History: Samuel Beckett was born in Elkridge, Indiana, United States of America, to John Samuel Beckett and Thelma Louise Beckett. He grew up on their farm with his older brother, Tom, and younger sister, Katie. He could read at the age of two, do calculus in his head at the age of four, and beat a computer at chess at the age of ten. He attended M.I.T. starting in 1970. At age 19, he played in Carnage Hall.

      Theorising that one could time-travel within his own lifetime, Sam led an elite group of scientists into the desert of New Mexico to develop a top-secret government project known as Quantum Leap. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Sam prematurely stepped into the Accelerator and vanished. He found himself leaping around in time, putting things right that once went wrong, facing mirror images that were not his own. Admiral Albert Calavicci was his holographic observer from the present, feeding him with information from Ziggy on how to better the lives of the people surrounding the leapee. Ziggy is the parallel hybrid computer designed to run Quantum Leap. Pieces of Sam's, as well as Al's and a few other of the top people, DNA were used in construction of the computer in order to give it 'life' and personality. In original history, his brother Tom died in Vietnam on April 8, 1972, but Sam leaped into a comrade and prevented that death. When Sam's father died in 1974 of a heart attack, his mother moved to Hawaii to live with Katie and her family. He met Donna Elesee in 1984 and, originally, Donna never showed up to their wedding. On Sam's third leap, he put Donna and her father back together, and they are now married. Sam fathered a child with Abigale Fuller, during his leaping. Sam met their daugter, Samantha Josephine Fuller (born March 1967), on the following leap involving the town of Pottersburg. [copied from QL-RPG]

     On August 8, 2000, Sam was found after two months of no contact with the project, and he discovered that he was still leaping as himself.

Four years of college at USC at San Diego, double major - psychology and psychiatry; graduated in 1979 with a B.A. in psychology; received M.A. in psychology from USC at San Diego in 1981; completed doctoral studies in clinical psychology and psychiatry in 1983; licensed to practice two and a half months later (early 1984). Worked at Veteran Affairs hospitals in California and Florida for 6 years, and with a private clinic for 3 years. Approached (and accepted) position to work on a 'new top-secret government project (Quantum Leap) in 1992. Continues on staff there to the present.

History: Abigail is the youngest daughter of Al and Beth, and is a rebel. She has been caught skipping school, is headstrong like her father but gets in trouble for fighting a lot. She is also easily influenced. She is jealous of her older sisters as she thinks that their father favors them above her, because she knows they are very smart and that makes Abigail more rebellious because she thinks of herself as being dumb so she doesn’t try at school. She hates dresses, always dresses in black, wears make-up but not in front of Al because he doesn’t allow it, he thinks she is too young to wear make up. She also smokes, again not in front of Al. He would have a cow if he knew. She sneaks out with boys, but has been caught on a number of occassions doing so and has been grounded for it, but it doesn’t stop her. She has piercing in her right eye brow, tongue and bottom lip against her fathers wishes, she was grounded for 2 months for that, and has lots of ear piercing too. She likes music such as Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, Korn, She also loves some of the old ’80s Rock, such as Guns and Roses, Aero Smith. She loves to write poetry, and short stories and her art influences are Wallace Burman. Also she is influenced with the Beatnik era. Since alot of the old influences are before her time she learnt of them through her older sisters and through their father.

Albert Calavicci

History: Born to an Italian father and a mother of Russian ancestry. When he was a child, his mother ran off with an Encyclopedia salesman, and Al feels part of the reason she left was the pressure of raising Trudy, his sister, who suffered from Down's Syndrome. At the age of 10 he ran away from the orphanage and in desperation tried to pick-pocketed Charlie "Black Magic" Walters and was busted. Charlie took Al under his wing and showed him that people did care. He went on to college, attending both MIT and the Naval Academy. By the age of 23, Albert Calavicci had become an ensign in the Navy and a fighter pilot stationed at Pensacola, where he picked up the name "Bingo". He eventually rose to the title of two-star rear admiral.

When Project Quantum Leap was in its beginning, Sam recruited Gooshie to be the head programmer of the then-theoretical hybrid computer. History: Her childhood was short; her parents died in a car crash when she was 11 in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was born. She went to live with her Aunt and Uncle in Dubuque, Iowa. They were an older couple with no children and were not the parenting type. She graduated from high school in 1988 and moved to New York to work for and oil company. She became involved with the environmental aspect of the company. In 1989 the Exxon Valdez oil spill took her to the arctic region to do more studies for the company.

     Later in 1995, she met a man named Dr. Edmund Platon, who had come to "check out" the spill area and see if it was to his benefit to monopolize the situation. He met Alia and pretended to be all for the saving of the environment and persuaded her to come work for him. She was supposedly to be his head environmental project manager. But little did she know he had other plans for her. In 1997 Alia began her duties in a desolate and isolated location in the arctic. She was tortured and conned into leaping for Lothos. Her observer was Zoey Dunshire. When she first met Sam her mission was to kill him but she didn't succeed. And when Lothos retrieved her she was beaten and tortured. When she met Sam the second time he set her free, shot Zoey, who returned to resume her duties in the control room of Lothos.

History: Edmund Maxwell Platon was born into an upper-class family in Kingston, Ontario. At the age of 10, his parents were both killed by intruders that entered his home, in an attempt to change over ownership of his father's company, Rune Edge Industries, Ltd.. However, vice-president was found to have arranged for the murder, and ownership of the company was promised to Edmund when he turned 18. Already a genius and adept at the business world, Edmund went into the sciences, intruigued by not only the business aspect of the company, but the products that it created as well.

     When he rose to power after his 18th birthday, being the youngest executive ever, many of the company's officials tried to manipulate him, but failed. Many were fired, and Edmund re-arranged the company to his own liking.

     In the late 1980s, Edmund heard about the Nobel-prize-winning scientest from the US, Dr. Sam Beckett, and his intruiging take on time-travel. Using his degrees in various sciences, Edmund began to develop his own theory, trying to improve on Sam's. When he thought he had it working, he began hiring the greatest minds from around the world, and build Project Deus in a far-northly location. After perfecting the computer, Lothos, Edmund hired Alia Hoffman as his first "guinea pig", and it worked. He assigned Zoey Dunshire as the observer.

     After they failed their first few assignments involving furthering the suffering of many of Rune Edge's former executives, Alia was retrieved, to Edmund's relief, and she and Zoey were "put through Hell" by torture within the deeper levels of Deus's complex.

     When Zoey managed to convince Edmund to allow them to try again, Alia attemped her job, and succeeded until she met Sam Beckett. Sam caused her to fail that leap, and Lothos retrieved Alia. Edmund was gracious enough to allow them a break, after the much success that they had brought him since their torture, and soon afterward Alia met with Sam again in a women's prison, this time being rescued by Sam from being able to be located by Lothos. Alia is now free.

     Zoey had leaped into the prison's warden, with Thames Lambert as her observer, and Sam had shot her with a shotgun. Lothos retrieved her right away, and she was attended to medically. Edmund went into a rage and began the search for a new leaper...

History: Joesph Stanislov Archibald Stivic was born in New York to parents Gloria (Bunker) Stivic and Michael Stivic, and the three of them lived at 706 Hauser Street in Queens, next door to Gloria's parents, before moving to California in mid 1978 where Joey's father became a professor at UCLA. His parents divorced shortly afterward, and in September 1982, Gloria and Joey moved back to New York. Gloria worked as a veterinary assistant, living at the home of one of her bosses, Dr. Adams. Gloria's father, Archie Bunker, invited them to come live with him, so they did so, in 1987. In 1993, Joey enrolled at New York University in the computer engineering program, and graduated four years later. He applied for a job with the U.S. government, and was assigned to work at Project Quantum Leap. He moved to New Mexico in August 1997, and has been working in the logistics department of the project for the three years he's been there.

History: Graduated top of his class with honors at Stamford University, New York, USA, at the age of 21 and obtained his medical doctorate by the age of 25 at The University of São Paulo in Brazil, obtaining masters' degrees in psychology and psychiatry as well as in advanced sciences and mathematics. Throughout his training and subsequent exemplary qualification he travelled the world, learning the majority of foreign cultures and some of the more obscure ones. He was recruited by Edmund Platon in March of 1997 when it was discovered that the plans for Project Deus actually worked and that ensuing leapers needed medical and psychiatric help on their return. His profound knowledge of exotic cultures, tropical "remedies" and other forms of "medicine" were invaluable to Edmund Platon and a deal was struck between them, he would perform his duties as instructed as long as he could have certain "subjects" for experimentation. He derived his knickname of "Sparkie" from a tribe he befriended in Zimbabwe, but he has never divulged "how" it came about. He is single but having a fling with one of the inferior technicians (no names or sexual preference have been mentioned).
